In the wake of the severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that struck Arkansas in early April, both the IRS and the State of Arkansas have announced significant tax relief measures for affected individuals and businesses.

Federal Tax Relief: Extended Deadlines for All Arkansas Counties

The IRS is providing automatic tax relief to all 75 Arkansas counties. This means that taxpayers with an IRS address of record in any Arkansas county will have several upcoming tax deadlines postponed. There’s no need to contact the IRS—relief is automatic.

The new deadline is November 3, 2025, and it applies to the following:

  • Individual income tax returns and payments normally due on April 15, 2025

  • 2024 contributions to IRAs and HSAs

  • Quarterly estimated tax payments due April 15, June 16, and September 15, 2025

  • Quarterly payroll and excise tax returns due April 30, July 31, and October 31, 2025

  • Calendar-year corporate and fiduciary returns and payments due April 15, 2025

  • Tax-exempt organization returns due May 15, 2025

Additionally, penalties for payroll and excise tax deposits due between April 2 and April 17, 2025, will be abated as long as those deposits are made by April 17, 2025.

Arkansas State Tax Relief: Extended Deadline for 63 Counties

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has also signed an executive order extending the 2024 state income tax filing and payment deadline to July 31, 2025 for individuals and businesses in 63 affected counties. No additional forms are needed to qualify for this extension.
